Fady Mishriki named Kea World Class New Zealander

Fady Mishriki has received a 2019 Kea World Class New Zealand Award, New Zealand’s most prestigious celebration of individual achievement. The annual awards recognise inspirational, world-leading Kiwis and friends who are making outstanding contributions to New Zealand’s economic, social and cultural development.

Fady was acknowledged for his significant and ongoing contribution to the global technology and business ecosystem. He is the founder and former CEO of Velocity spin-out PowerbyProxi, which since its humble beginnings as a student venture grew to become a global leader in wireless power technologies, culminating in its acquisition by Apple in 2017. Fady is now the Managing Director of Apple’s Auckland Technology Centre.

Director of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Wendy Kerr says “To say that we are proud of Fady’s achievements is an understatement. He exemplifies everything we stand for at the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He is inventive, impactful and a collaborative creator. Fady has not only taken the world by storm with his technological achievements – he plays an active role in supporting and encouraging potential in others. Fady remembers his beginnings in our Velocity programme and has regularly come back to help inspire the next generation of innovators.”
