Accolades for entrepreneurial education from leading American accreditation agency

18 February 2020

The University of Auckland’s Business School has received confirmation that AACSB International has extended its accreditation for a further 5 years. This successfully rounds out the University of Auckland’s fourth cycle of accreditation and results in 20 years of continuous accreditation with AACSB International and EFMD EQUIS. AACSB accreditation involves an intensive and robust 2-year-long peer-review process, and is intended as an assurance to students and their employers’ around the quality and standard of business schools. It is thought that only 5% of business programs internationally hold AACSB accreditation.

The Peer Review Team particularly commended the University of Auckland Business School for driving innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Auckland and in the broader business environment in New Zealand. They were also impressed with the outstanding extracurricular student engagement activities offered by the Business School Students Development Engagement Unit, the ASB Careers Centre and the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Professor Susan Watson, Acting Dean of the University of Auckland Business School says “This is a tremendous achievement, with only a small number of business schools globally having achieved accreditation for this length of time. It is wonderful to see our strengths in innovation and entrepreneurial education acknowledged by such a prestigious organisation as the AACSB.  This positive outcome is the result of the hard work, dedication and talent of our staff and our supporters. I am very proud to be the Acting Dean of such a world-class Business School.”
