Discover your innovative potential at the University of Auckland Open Day

If you are a prospective student curious to learn more about the full range of experiences the University of Auckland has to offer you, we encourage you to learn more about the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the online University of Auckland Open Day 2020.

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s wide range of events, programmes and facilities are free for all students and staff at the University of Auckland and will prepare you for the future of work when an entrepreneurial mindset and innovative capabilities will be useful no matter what you study and go on to do. Participation in our programmes is recognised by the University’s Co-curricular Recognition Programme and could earn you a University of Auckland Distinguished Graduate Award.

So, whether you aspire to be a leader of industry, social entrepreneur, innovator, inventor or start-up founder, we have something to help you unleash your potential. Discover how at this year’s Open Day Online, and we look forward to welcoming you on campus in 2021.

Welcome to the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Our mission is to unleash the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of Auckland through experiential programmes, events and workshops. Receive a short overview of our role at the University and meet some of the inspiring ventures that have come out of our programmes.

Unleash Space Tour
Unleash Space is the University of Auckland’s vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship hub featuring a state-of-the-art maker space and dynamic spaces designed for collaboration, workshops, events, and more. Free to all students, this is your space for creating, innovating, and connecting. Learn more in this virtual walk through.

Maker Space Tour
The Unleash Space Maker Space is designed for creating and experimenting. Free to all students, it’s home to a range of equipment including 3D printers, a laser cutter, and electronics and sewing stations with knowledgeable staff on hand to assist you with your projects. Learn more in this short tour.

Laser Cutter, Vinyl Cutter, and 3D Printer Project Demonstrations
Watch our Maker Space Coordinator work on three unique projects using the laser cutter, vinyl cutter, and 3D printers in the Maker Space which are free to use for all students and staff at the University.

Velocity Launch 2020
Velocity is the University of Auckland’s student-led, globally renowned entrepreneurship development programme. Watch their first ever virtual launch, a short video introducing you to their year-long schedule of free talks, workshops, events, challenges, mentorship, and networking opportunities.

Velocity Innovation Challenge 2020
The Innovation Challenge is an opportunity for students and staff to get their creative juices flowing by submitting an idea for a solution to a problem in 1,000 words for the chance to win $1,000. Discover this year’s winning ideas in Velocity’s first virtual prize giving.

Velocity Student Team Highlights
Want to know what it’s like to be on the Velocity team? Take a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the Velocity year as the student committee does everything from professional development, overnight camp, and running stalls, to organising challenges and hosting workshops and seminars. Not to mention the dance offs!
