Co-founder and COO | Kami

Alliv’s entrepreneurial journey started in 2013 when looking for a better way to take lecture notes collaboratively while studying at the University of Auckland. So she and some other students created an app called Notable.ac.

The co-founders worked through their idea in the Velocity 100K challenge in 2013 (when it was called ‘Spark’) and experienced their first success as finalists.

After successfully passing the milestone of one million annotations they refined their business model, and Notable was renamed Kami in 2015. Alliv and her team are constantly developing and improving, which has required a special way of thinking.

“Having an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset gives me a better view of the world, the strength to tackle obstacles and the confidence to take risks.”

Kami now has five million users and a well-defined revenue model with a team spread across the United States, New Zealand, and the Philippines.

Alliv believes that her Arts degree also contributed to her success, laying the foundations for being an entrepreneur: “I envision and perceive things in a unique way as a result of what I learned at University.”

Alliv Samson graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts.
