Ask an Expert
When building a start-up, you are likely to run into some questions that you’d like advice on. Talking to an expert would be great. Well, now you can. With CIE’s Ask an Expert, you’ll get 30 minutes of free advice from experts in specific areas.

One-day Start-up Workshop
If you have an idea but don’t know how to turn it into a business, this one-day workshop is for you. The day is designed to give you a good understanding of the basics of building a business case and starting a venture. Free for everyone at the University of Auckland to participate.

Start-up Studio
A dedicated co-working space, Start-up Studio is actively used by a group of entrepreneurs and start-up founders using Unleash Space as their ‘home’ and place of work.

Velocity Ideas Challenge
During Semester One, Velocity runs the Ideas Challenge – enter your idea in a thousand words or less, to be in to win one of five $1,000 cash prizes.

Mentor sessions
Do you have a business idea, but no idea how to progress it? Are you a founder with a problem, or are you looking for some suggestions on how to grow your business? CIE’s Mentor sessions are for you!

Velocity $100k Challenge
At the start of Semester Two, Velocity runs the $100k Challenge. Participants are encouraged to enter a detailed description of their venture idea. Fifteen finalists are selected to join the Launch Pad incubator programme, which prepares teams to enter the Grand Finals in October. Five winners are chosen by a panel of industry judges and share a prize pool that includes seed capital and the opportunity to join the Venture Lab programme which provides, mentorship and networking opportunities to boost your business idea into a viable start-up.

Distinguished Graduate Award
Your involvement with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship can be formally recognised on your academic transcript through the University’s Co-curricular Recognition Programme.

Doctoral Entrepreneurial Leadership programme
The Doctoral Entrepreneurial Leadership programme is a free year-long programme for University of Auckland doctoral candidates from all disciplines. It is designed to develop your entrepreneurial mindset and skills.

Hynds Entrepreneurial Fellows Programme
The Hynds Entrepreneurial Fellows Programme aims to embed innovation and entrepreneurship in the curricula across the University of Auckland by working with and supporting academics from all faculties.

The Researcher Entrepreneurship and Commercialisation Hatchery is designed to provide entrepreneurship and commercialisation capabilities and support the translation of research into impact for society and the economy.

Start-up Interns
University of Auckland students are invited to gain hands-on experience in a start-up through the Start-up Interns programme. Lend your skills to an early-stage venture and learn new skills, geared to accelerate your future.

Summer Lab

Vanguard programme
Each year in September a cohort travels to Silicon Valley for one week. Applications are by invitation only.

Velocity
Velocity is the University of Auckland entrepreneurship development programme. It unleashes potential, giving momentum to people, innovation and ideas. We provide mentoring and intensive workshops for ideas to be ignited to the next stage.

Venture Lab
Venture Lab is the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s incubator programme, open by invitation only to winners of the Velocity 100K challenge competition.
